BACKGROUND INFORMATION

By God’s grace and in obedience to the Lord’s call, Pastor Goodman Shandu and His wife Tshidi founded Ebenezer Covenant Church (ECC – Clayville) in April 2006. Pastor Shandu had been walking with the Lord since 1985 where he first met the Lord and immediately started responding to the call to preach the gospel. During his early days of Evangelistic ministry, he preached in student Christian Movement (SCM) and mission trips in KZN and raised many seasoned leaders in the Kingdom of God. Among many who received Christ through his preaching is Hlengiwe Mhlaba (now a seasoned Gospel musician), Pastor Shandu and his wife were married and served for nine years under Pastor Elliot Bochardt of Develand -Johannesburg. In October 2006 they were officially ordained and released to obey the Lord’s call and establish ECC – Clayville. The church started in April 2006 with one family and the Pastor’s family. By July 2006, there were about ten converts added. In October 2006, the church had its first Sunday service in a 200 seater tent. Since then God’s grace has been sufficient to sustain the church and to meet its every need.
